Love's Top 10

self care tips

January 25, 2022

ORIGINAL BLOG FROM THE HIGH VIBE OIL LIFE:Ohhhhh, the hoopla about February and Valentine's Day. It makes some people laugh with joy, and others cry in pain. Whether you are in the midst of a healthy relationship or if you've just lost someone, the emotions are equally real.

The most important relationship you have is with yourself. And while self care is a big buzzword right now, you don't have to spend hundreds at the spa (unless you want to, of course!) or go on a fancy vacation to initiate an understanding with yourself. Here are my top 10 simple tips for loving yourself:

  • Apply flower oils on your heart, with lots of positive self talk - Rose, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Magnolia, Neroli, Lavender, Geranium, and Roman Chamomile (10% off this month) to name a few. Diffuse the oils as well. I know no quicker way to make a shift than to apply oils.
  • Listen to your favorite song. LOUD. Dance if you're into it.
  • Talk a walk. Fill your water bottle and add a drop of any citrus oil like Lemon to detoxify as you strut.
  • Light a candle. Say a prayer or visualize a positive outcome. Breathe.
  • Read someone's inspiring blog or story. Then pass it on to someone else who needs to hear it.
  • Drink pure water, infused with Spearmint oil or add it to a warm cup of tea. Breathe again.
  • Declutter a drawer or a cabinet, some desk space or even a bit of your inbox. Donate any decluttered items of value asap.
  • Take a trip nearby to where there is a body of water. A lake, a pond, a waterfall, the ocean. Let it soothe your nerves. Breathe even more deeply.
  • Completely change your surroundings, if possible, even for an hour. Go the grocery store just to buy your favorite organic chocolate. Drive to the library to pick up your favorite book. Do anything that gets you out of that mood, even temporarily.
  • Write it out. Keep the journal entry, or burn it and release it in the spirit of self forgiveness.

It's important to not let things fester....this can make the nervous system sluggish and block the free flow of energy, which we need for our vitality. When you're down, the essential thing to know is that it can take a very small shift to get you into the upward spiral. Many people try to do something BIG to get themselves out of their rut, but after the grandeur is over, they are back in the mud.

Take it small, make tiny changes, one by one, and they will compound over the day to get you back to center. Self care is in the little things!
