ORIGINAL BLOG POST FROM THE HIGH VIBE OIL LIFE:
Using essential oils daily is the base of my rituals. In the morning, the diffuser goes on with whatever blend I am looking to create the mood for. Today it's a perfect fall day, so I have an autumn blend running; 3 drops cinnamon bark, 3 drops clove, 6 drops wild orange.
But sometimes it's not about recreating the season or a mood. It's deeper. How can you find comfort in aromas when you feel like something is lacking in your life? For me, it's severe homesickness after an overseas trip back to Pakistan after 26 years. Part of me is here in Allen, Texas, but part of me has been left behind with family, and an attachment to the land in the mountains.
So I'm using oils that help me to reintegrate: Balance oil which I apply first thing in the morning to my wrists to maintain stability. Vetiver oil on the bottom of my feet each night to ground myself while I sleep. Rose Touch oil on my pulse points to feel wholesome and complete, rather than fragmented. Cedarwood oil on the bottom of my feet when I pray, so I am connected to something deeper than my own fleeting emotions.
And in the diffuser, Lemon for clarity and Eucalyptus for overall well being. The combo of both Lemon and Eucalyptus is reviving to the senses, and reminds me to come back to the present moment.
It's not easy having to recreate your home away from home, but what the oils do for me, is an inside job. As the plants move their chemical messengers from the olfactory bulb to the brain, it sends signals that induce peace. It's not a perfect strategy every time, but I notice now when I'm NOT diffusing, I can feel the emptiness.
The chemical messengers feel like friends, familiar and near, not foreign and elusive. They're close by. They're alive. They relay information. They have a voice. Essential oils are my vehicle for reintegration; what's yours?
